This course is designed to train persons who are responsible for undertaking this course as part of their duties on Network Rail Infrastructure. It is designed to develop a person’s knowledge, understanding and skills and is therefore particularly suited to persons required to prove their capability in these areas
• Must be a minimum age of 18.
• Must hold a valid Sentinel Track Safety Card endorsed with PTS and IWA or COSS.
• Must meet the medical requirements of Network Rail Standard NR/L2/OHS/00124 Medical Fitness
• Must have a good level of literacy to meet Entry Qualifications.
• Must meet the requirements of Network Rail Standard NR/L1/OHS/051 (Drugs & Alcohol).

The aim of this course is to provide delegates with the skills and underpinning knowledge required to undertake their duties as Handsignaller
At the end of the training the delegate will be able to:
•List the situations in which staff are required to carry out Handsignalling duties and name the person responsible for instructing the Handsignaller in each case
•Identify with whom the Handsignaller needs to communicate, and demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with relevant personnel
•Identify the principal features of items of Handsignalling equipment and check they are in working order or suitable for use.
•Demonstrate the correct method of exhibiting the appropriate signal. •Correctly complete a temporary block working ticket.
This training will be presented by Trainers in the classroom using the accompanying visual aids, supplemented by practical sessions. All delegates must participate in the complete training event. Other appropriate visual aids can be shown and discussed, sufficient time being allowed to answer delegates’ points.
It is not allowed to deliver initial and recertification training during the same training event.
