Assessor Award Course Overview 2012.

Introduction

Assessment qualifications are changing and by 2015 the award will be known as AG30200 with two distinct units which require guided learning hours. The level 3 award in assessing competence in the workplace is a practical based qualification intended for assessor’s who assess occupational competence in an individual work environment and is mapped to National Occupational Standards.

The award as mentioned is divided into two units:

  1. UV30564 – Assess occupational competence in the work environment, which has a credit value of 6, and requires 30 Guided Learning Hours.
  2. UV30563 – Understanding the principles and practices of assessment, which has a credit value of 3, and requires 24 Guided Learning Hours?

The course consists of the following:

A two day introduction to the award in a classroom environment which introduces the candidates to the two units and the award.

  • Creating a portfolio of evidence which is seen as the prime source of evidence to achieve the award.
  • A one day workshop in the candidate’s workplace.
  • An observation of the candidate(s) performing assessments in the workplace
  • Completion of the awarding body record of assessment handbook (under the supervision of the trainer).
  • Support from the trainer to the candidate to achieve the award.

The award also covers the following areas as part of the ongoing support.

Mentoring and observation of the candidate conducting assessments in the work environment (Minimum of 3 assessments).

  • 1 observation by the trainer of the candidate.
  • Evidence of contributing to standardisation of company processes and procedures.
  • Examining products of work
  • Questioning of the learner
  • Witness testimony (Use of others)
  • Recognising prior learning
  • Understanding evidence requirements
  • Recognising other people involved in the assessment process.

 Price: £850 per delegate (this includes the 2 day initial course and the 2 workshops)
